CW028, commonly known as the Super Schwartzi Cory, is an especially attractive and uncommon Corydoras relative prized for its bold pattern and bright white fin spines. The body features two prominent, parallel dark bands running along the flanks, giving this fish a much stronger linear pattern than the typical Hoplisoma schwartzi. The contrasting cream-white dorsal spine and attractive body shape make CW028 a standout among collector-grade Corydoras.

CW028 is associated with the Rio Purus drainage of the Amazon basin, with sources documenting it from the Purus region of Brazil and the lower Purus/Solimões region. It is adapted to relatively soft, clean freshwater environments and spends most of its time actively searching the substrate for food. Fine sand and open areas for foraging are particularly appropriate in the aquarium.

Despite its larger size and substantial appearance, CW028 is peaceful and highly social. Like other Corydoras and Hoplisoma, it should be maintained in a proper group rather than kept individually. A group of six or more allows them to display their natural schooling and foraging behavior and generally results in much more confident, active fish.

CW028 does best in a mature aquarium with excellent water quality and plenty of open substrate. Fine sand is strongly recommended because Corydoras use their sensitive barbels to constantly investigate the bottom, and rough or sharp gravel can cause unnecessary damage. Driftwood, smooth rocks, aquatic plants, and shaded areas can be used to create a natural environment while maintaining plenty of open space for the group to forage.

Their natural feeding behavior is that of an opportunistic omnivore and scavenger. They readily accept quality sinking tablets, pellets, and other prepared foods, along with frozen and live foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and other small aquatic invertebrates. A varied diet helps maintain their body condition and encourages natural foraging behavior.

Because CW028 are active bottom feeders, they should receive dedicated sinking foods rather than being expected to live on leftovers from other fish. Feeding once the aquarium lights are dimmed can also encourage natural activity and give the entire group an opportunity to feed without competition from faster midwater fish.

CW028 are excellent community fish and can be kept with peaceful tetras, rasboras, danios, small peaceful cichlids, other Corydoras, and many other non-aggressive species. Avoid large or aggressive bottom-dwelling fish that may compete with them for territory or food.
