CW127, commonly called the Super Parallelus Cory, is a beautiful and highly desirable collector Cory known for its resemblance to the true Hoplisoma parallelum. Its elongated body carries strong dark horizontal markings over a silvery base, creating a clean, high-contrast appearance. Despite its resemblance to H. parallelum, CW127 is a distinct, currently undescribed fish from the Tapajós drainage and should not be considered the same species.

This species originates from a tributary of the Rio Jamanxim in the Rio Tapajós drainage of Brazil. The Tapajós is a clear-water river system, and CW127 is associated with clean, well-oxygenated freshwater environments. Aquarium Glaser notes that the fish is the short-snouted counterpart to Brochis bifasciatus from the same general region, further distinguishing it from the similarly patterned H. parallelum of the upper Rio Negro.

CW127 is peaceful, active, and highly social. Like other Cory-type catfish, it should be maintained in a group rather than individually. A group of six or more allows them to display their natural social and foraging behavior, while larger groups can make an especially impressive display in a planted aquarium. Females generally grow slightly larger and become fuller-bodied than males.

CW127 does best in a mature aquarium with excellent water quality, good biological filtration, and plenty of open substrate for foraging. Fine sand or smooth, rounded gravel is ideal for protecting their sensitive barbels. Driftwood, smooth stones, plants, and shaded areas can be incorporated while still leaving substantial open areas for the group to explore.

These Corys appreciate clean, oxygen-rich water. Regular maintenance and consistent water quality are particularly important with wild-caught specimens. Strong surface agitation and good circulation help maintain the oxygen levels these active bottom dwellers appreciate.

CW127 are omnivorous opportunistic feeders and readily accept quality sinking foods. Their diet can include sinking tablets and granules, spirulina-based foods, frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, daphnia, and other appropriately sized frozen or live foods. A varied diet is ideal for maintaining condition and encouraging natural foraging behavior.

Dedicated feeding is recommended in community aquariums so these active bottom feeders receive enough food. Offering sinking foods after the lights dim can be particularly effective and allows the Corys to feed without competing with faster midwater fish.

CW127 are excellent community fish and can be kept with peaceful tetras, rasboras, danios, other Corydoras, and other non-aggressive species. Their peaceful nature makes them particularly well suited to planted community aquariums.

CW127 are egg-scattering breeders. Well-conditioned groups can be encouraged to spawn with abundant feeding, excellent water quality, and appropriately timed water changes. They have been bred in aquariums, although consistent production has historically been more limited than with some common Corydoras.
