The Orange-Finned Danio (Brachydanio kyathit) is a striking, active schooling fish from Myanmar. Closely related to the Zebra Danio, Kyathit Danios are considerably more colorful, with dark horizontal markings contrasted by warm orange to copper-colored fins.
These energetic little fish are constantly on the move and make an excellent addition to peaceful community aquariums. They are hardy and adaptable, but their active nature means they appreciate plenty of open swimming space. A planted aquarium with areas of cover and a dark substrate will help bring out their best coloration.
Kyathit Danios are naturally found in streams and smaller waterways and appreciate clean, well-oxygenated water with some moderate circulation. Avoid excessively strong currents, as they tend to favor calmer margins and sheltered areas in nature. A tight-fitting lid is strongly recommended, as danios are accomplished jumpers.

For food, Kyathit Danios readily accept quality flakes and small pellets, but they thrive on a varied diet. Supplementing dry foods with appropriately sized frozen or live foods such as baby brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms will help maintain condition and encourage their strongest coloration.
Their peaceful temperament makes them excellent community fish when housed with similarly sized, non-aggressive tankmates. Keep them in a proper group to encourage natural schooling behavior and reduce stress.
